CEDIA has announced that Omar Hikal will assume the role of Vice Chair on the Executive Committee of the CEDIA Board until his term ends in January of 2019.
The Vice Chair role was recently vacated by Giles Sutton as part of his transition to becoming a member of the CEDIA staff as Senior Vice President of Industry Engagement. Hikal has previously served on the executive committee as Secretary from 2016-2017.
“Omar has been an incredibly dedicated member of the CEDIA board,” said Dave Humphries, CEDIA chairman. “We are fortunate to have someone with his vast industry experience stepping in to serve in this leadership role for the association.”
Omar entered the home technology industry in 2003 when he co-founded Archimedia, now the Middle East’s largest residential integration company, operating in five countries from Morocco to the UAE. Omar was CEO of Archimedia until 2015 and now sits on Achimedia’s board as Vice Chairman; he remains active in helping to develop the business. Since 2017, Omar has been the CEO and Head of Strategy at The Brand Company, a holistic brand creation firm that aims to “infuse brands with meaning, attitude, and promise.” Omar is also a certified Gazelles business and leadership coach helping companies with strategic planning and execution.
Candidates for the 2019 – 2020 board will be announced in the coming weeks. Voting will open on September 6th and will close on October 19, 2018. All member types, whether integrator, manufacturer, service provider or other, may vote and each company has one vote.
