The latest version of the EB1, large three-way floorstander, the EB1i benefits from the precision built SONOLEX soft dome tweeter which boasts extended HF detail, power handling and a broader off-axis response.
The top end response is also cleaner and more open with superior imaging, and having undergone modification to accommodate the superior PMC/SEAS tweeter unit, the compact 31 element, 24dB per octave crossover network provides a smooth, seamless integration between the mid and high units.
Improvements to the cabinets have also been made. With regards to their construction, the increase in density of the Medite, in addition to more sophisticated jointing throughout, ensures that the drivers are operating from a less coloured and more structurally stable cabinet, resulting in a cleaner mid range and bass, and less ‘Cabinet talk’. Each hand-finished cabinet has not only been treated with a deeper lacquer, they now also feature solid, metal hand-polished badges, completing the crafted look of the speaker.
Available in a choice of walnut and cherry finishes, the new EB1i is priced at £5950 per pair, and when coupled with the matching SB100 sub, makes up an impressive surround sound package.
