With the first day of CES ready to kick off in Las Vegas, Warner Bros have announced that as of May 2008 they will distribute all film and television discs in either standard DVD or Blu-ray.
Understandably this will not be welcome news for Sony rival, and staunched supporter of HD DVD, Toshiba who are set to unveil their latest HD DVD products in Vegas as we speak. In another blow, Toshiba have indicated that they were not told in advance of the move which leaves Universal and Paramount as the only two major studios not aligned with camp Blu-ray.
Whilst Toshiba are undoubtedly strategising at this very moment, we are left wondering if this move will be the catalyst that finally signals an end to the format war.
