The number of people holding CEDIA Certification throughout Region 1 (Europe, Middle East, Russia, India, Africa) since its introduction in 2003 has exceeded 500.
Originally conceived to provide a recognised, industry-wide indicator of competence, experience and knowledge, last February saw Certification become mandatory for all CEDIA ESP (Electronic Systems Professional) member companies throughout the UK and Ireland.
The hope is that this will not just help to increase overall standards across the industry worldwide, but also introduce a greater level of professionalism throughout the CI sector and provide helpful quality assurance for clients and customers.
To achieve Certified status, applicants must have passed one of the following examinations: CEDIA Installer Level 1, Advanced Installer or Designer Level 1. Certification lasts for three years, during which time the individual must gain 30 'continuing education units' (CEUs) through attending CEDIA Region 1-accredited courses and training sessions organised by CEDIA's trade suppliers, the number of which continues to grow.
