Armour Home and Alphason combine to form single company
Taking charge of the revised Armour Home will be Managing Director Glenn McClelland, who explained that, “These changes will both consolidate and perpetuate Amour’s leading market position, ensuring a sound platform for future growth. We have embarked upon a course of action to fully integrate the two businesses into a single entity called 'Armour Home'. Alphason, which accounts for around £20M of our £56M turnover, will of course clearly remain the most significant brand within the restructured organisation, but will now sit alongside the other Armour Home brands, rather than as a separate company.”
He added, “We anticipate it will take some months to fully complete this operation, however the starting point is the integration of management functions with immediate effect.”
Alphason – originally acquired by Armour in January 2006 – will continue to be based at its existing manufacturing facility in Wigan. Former Chief Operating Officer, Chris Emerson, has been appointed as Sales Director, tasked with overseeing all AH products sold in the UK and abroad. Supporting him will be Ashley Hutchinson (UK Independents Sales Manager), Gordon Salter (International Sales Manager), Gary McBride (Telesales and Merchandising Manager) and a Key Accounts team.
Kevin Taylor – formerly Armour’s Marketing and e-commerce Director – has meanwhile assumed the role of Operations Director, with responsibility for all operations and staff relating to purchasing, production, distribution and stock control across all of the company’s sites. According to Armour representatives, one of Taylor’s first tasks will be ‘targeting significant reduction in purchasing expenditure, while providing out customers with an ever improving level of service’.
Elsewhere, Bob Abraham will continue in the position of Business Development Director, working alongside staff at the company’s Bishops Stortford facility and Concept Design Centre in Woking. Rounding out the executive appointments is Nicky Spence, who takes on the position of Finance Director with responsibility for Armour Home’s Finance and Admin teams.
Following the change, Armour Home has made 10 posts redundant, with a corresponding reduction in the 300+ members of staff that the company currently employs.
