Yamaha issue warning for users of some of their vintage (circa 1980 – 1982) amplifiers
Following one of the company’s regular quality assurance tests carried out across their entire product range, a potential security risk has been identified that affects the following (220/240V power supply) devices:
A-760
A-760 II
A-960
A-960 II
A-1060
M-50
M-70
B-6
If used for a number of years, these models may - in rare instances - develop a fault in the power supply. According to Yamaha, the most extreme cases may result in ‘heavy smoke’ or even fire developing inside the device itself.
Owners of said components are therefore advised to unplug their device from the mains and contact Yamaha, by emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or via the contact details below, before any further use. Those who may know of others possessing an affected model are furthermore kindly requested to pass the information on.
