Loudspeaker manufacturer to showcase new active monitors and discreet loudspeakers at ISE
[Note for those directed here from the SVI monthly newsletter - this story has been updated]

The demonstration will take the form of a home theatre exhibit, in which the IB2XBDS-A will provide the front L/R and centre channels, alongside two units from the company’s ‘slim-line wafer’ series at the rear, the latter of which will be powered by a 4B SST2 two-channel amplifier from brand partner Bryston.

Each IB2XBDS-A is formed from two components – the three-way IB2S-A master cabinet and an accompanying XBD bass cabinet, which contains a 10-inch carbon fibre/Nomex piston driver to offer an additional +3dB of low frequency headroom. Supplying up to 1520W of power is the system’s DSP-assisted onboard amplification, with a little extra help coming courtesy of PMC’s Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) technology, which works to produce a low distortion bass output of below 20Hz.

Other features include an AES3 digital input, balanced analogue inputs with a variable input sensitivity of ranging from +4dB to +20dB and user-adjustable HF and LF shelving filters, with all adjustments able to carried out from a distance via a supplied RJ45-connected remote control. The wafer series loudspeakers are meanwhile intended for use in discreet applications, equipped as they are with bespoke printed grilles and the aforementioned ATL technology to help them generate a low frequency output seemingly at odds with their slim, compact form factors.

PMC will also be using the event to introduce its new Specialist Systems Group - a dedicated team made up of seasoned audio installation experts whose past clients include the likes of the San Francisco Symphony, pop production duo Jam & Lewis, Prince and Berlin’s Teldex Studios. Working as part of the company’s global distribution network, their role will be to provide additional support for high-end clients within the CI/home theatre, recording and broadcast industries with a range of services that will include acoustic rooms treatments, project integration and rigging.

ISE visitors interested in seeing PMC's ‘Ultimate Home Theatre’ exhibit in person can do so at Booth 44, Aisle I, Hall 11. ISE 2011 takes place between February 1-3 at Amsterdam’s RAI exhibition and conference centre.
