Owing to the fact that they have a name that sounds a little bit like a Mighty Boosh character the team at SVI were a little hesitant to meet with the representatives from Rainbow Fish at the Home Technology Event early this year. What we found at their stand however was one of the most innovative and exciting products at the show. What we found was a team which has utilised its expertise and experience in optical communication networks, fibre optics, mechanical design and ASIC engineering to solve the problem of HDMI over long distances that can blight many installation jobs. The Rainbow Fish solution is built around specialist technology, which converts the HDMI signal to light pulses that carry the full HDMI signal up to 1000 feet. Why have they done it this way you may ask? Well Rainbow Fish told us that fibre optic cable has virtually no electrical interference and is the future of the connected home.

Another team impressed by the work of Rainbow Fish is the team at RGB. The Berkshire based AV distribution company has announced the addition of Rainbow Fish fibre optic HDMI cable solutions to its product portfolio. Commenting on the deal Caroline Britt, Managing Director of RGB, said: “Rainbow Fish Fibre Optic HDMI is the best choice for medium to long distance HDMI from 20 to 1000 feet. Available for home and professional applications, it is easy to use and works with all HDMI connected products to your HDTV or 3DTV. Sleek and elegant, it can be easily hidden when connected between your HDMI-connected products and blends in within the home. Rainbow Fish are the first company in the world to offer this technology and we are thrilled to introduce it to the UK. It truly is a remarkable invention.”

Buzz Delano of Rainbow Fish Fibre Optic added: “Our innovation provides AV integrators with a solution for the complexities of long distance HDMI, something that has long been needed. We are proud to announce our relationship with RGB and are looking forward to working the high calibre, progressively-minded team at RGB.”
