The Home Technology Event is the only annual trade show and education event in Europe which is 100% dedicated to the design, installation and integration of home electronic systems, including the installation, integration, control and concealment of multi-room audio and TV distribution systems, home cinema, lighting, HVAC and security control, data networks and other electronic sub-systems. Proving to be a draw for local, national and international members of the trade the Home Technology Event still has the pulling power to make it a must for all of us.

FIRST TIMERS
Given the scope and appeal of the show it is the perfect way for many to introduce themselves to the industry and this year is no exception. Not only will the new look team from SVI be making its show debut but also a record number of debutant exhibitors will be gracing the ExCel this year, looking to make an impact on the industry. Among those taking part in the event for the very first time will be Alltrade, Bespoke Telecoms, Brother UK, DPL Electrical, EuroNetworks, Global Cellular, Technoloje and Zennio. “We’re delighted to welcome so many new companies to the Home Technology Event 2011” said Cheryl Carroll, Event Manager at Upper Street Events, organisers of the show. “Bringing a new dynamic to the show was one of our key objectives, and these debut exhibitors will certainly help do that. With fresh, exciting content guaranteed from these companies alongside the new initiatives we have planned, visitors this year can be certain of a stimulating and rewarding experience.”
These new initiatives include the Hub Seminar Theatre, room sets, workshops and a 3D Feature Zone. The Hub Seminar Theatre will be centrally located in the arena and will handle the bulk of the training seminars over the four day event, utilising loudspeakers from some of the biggest names at the show to draw audiences in. The room sets are dedicated spaces for manufacturers and distributors to showcase and demonstrate their latest products in action in front of custom installers, architects and designers whilst the workshops will provide opportunities for manufacturers and distributors to host installer workshops throughout the event’s duration.
The 3D Feature Zone will feature two separate theatres from JVC and Panasonic displaying the very latest offerings in the world of 3D home cinemas. Cheryl Carroll told us that: “As consumer demand builds for 3D, residential custom installers are ideally placed to tap into this opportunity and provide their customers with the right technical solutions for their homes. In this context, it’s hugely important for installers to keep up to speed with what’s happening in the market. Our 3D Zone will make it possible for them to see firsthand how the technology in this area is developing rapidly to improve the 3D experience for their customers.”

EDUCATION, EDUCATION, EDUCATION
The 3D Feature Zone won’t be the only place for visitors to learn from the experts at this year’s Home Technology Event, however, as CEDIA will be offering all manner of seminars and training sessions for visitors to the show. “With over 90 hours of training, the four-day education offering embraces all career paths to offer something for everyone” says CEDIA’s Education Chair, Matt Dodd. “From entry level technical courses for new installers wanting to get a foot in the door, to high-level business workshop classes for company owners looking to keep their business on the right track, this programme has all bases covered. And thanks to our Education Passports initiative, this is not just great, high quality training but unbelievable value for money too.”
Interested parties can find a seminar guide on the CEDIA website which outlines all the courses on offer and allows visitors to book themselves onto the courses of their choice. If you’re planning on attending a number of training and education events the CEDIA Education Passport could be just what you’re after. The pass allows the holder to book as many CEDIA courses as they like, over the four day education event for £299+VAT (CEDIA members rate) or £399+VAT (non-CEDIA members). Furthermore, companies who book three passports at a time will be entitled to a fourth, absolutely free. Meanwhile, a new Business Strategy Passport will allow access to all Business Courses for a one off inclusive price of £149+VAT (only available to CEDIA members).
With all this excitement planned and the undoubted opportunity the event provides for networking and sourcing new business deals it seems clear that the Home Technology Event remains a must for all in the CI industry. Team SVI will be there on the show floor soaking up the atmosphere, handing out our industry awards and taking a look at some of the products that are headlining the event so why not pop by stand F16 and say hello, we hope to see you there.

A full show preview can be found in the latest issue of SVI magazine.
