The 5-inch NXD-500i Modero Wall/Flush Mount Touch Panel with Intercom, to give it its full name, measures 2-inches deep and can be connected to numerous sources via a solitary cable.
“[This] panel is our first ‘power over Ethernet’ panel, and so over a single Cat5, we are now providing voice, audio, video control and power”, notes AMX CEO, Rashid Skaf. “I am extremely proud of my design team for packing this feature-rich product into such a small package, while still focusing on simplifying the installation process.”

The NXD-500i will also form part of AMX’s newly-launched ‘Communication EXPerience Kit’ (pictured), which comprises the panel itself, the NI-3101 Signature Series NetLinx Integrated Controller, a PoE Injector and a Metreau Entry Communicator (MEC) – in short, everything required to put together an AMX-controlled AV entry system.

The MEC will make it possible for users to communicate with visitors via an NXD-500i touchpanel, while AMX’s upcoming SIP Communications Gateway (due for release in the coming months), promises to add even more to the mix, namely full telephony from the touchpanel, plus the ability to speak directly to persons at the front door from any telephone device worldwide.
