Word has reached us of a new 'audio-only' addition to Smart-e's range of marine AV solutions, smartwave, which promises to save space, cut costs and increase functionality. Smartwave was launched last year to serve yachts and commercial shipping, and to accomplish other 'on-board' applications. Its range of inputs and outputs allow up to 48 sources to serve up to 32 displays, and the system promises installers all the benefits of Smart-e matrices combined with the durability necessary for electronics to survive in damp environments and salt-laden atmospheres, and to withstand the shock/vibration caused by engines and sea motion. The new option fits into the original smartwave matrix and allows for 16 extra 'audio-only' inputs and outputs to be incorporated into the switch and configured to individual requirements. When the overall cost of the matrix and the need for 'audio-only' receivers is taken into account, it's clear this addition can significantly reduce costs.
