The Multi-Room Company are taking their name very seriously with the release of the new Russound DMS 3.1 Digital Media Streamer which provides, yep you guessed it, multi-room audio. The four stream source device makes music playback throughout the home a doddle, able to stream network-based digital music from anywhere around the home the DMS 3.1 Digital Media Streamer can access up to three stereo digital audio streams within the home and with the addition of a built-in AM/FM stereo tuner or DAB/FM tuner users will have access to up to four audio streams.
Compatible with pretty much every conceivable file format, including: MP3 (CBR, VBR), WAV (8, 16-bit), OGG Vorbis, FLAC (8, 16-bit), AAC and AAC+ the DMS 3.1 allows for a multi-faceted and almost all-encompassing audio experience. The inclusion of a source ID switch also makes your job easier as installers can easily identify which stream.
As a fully compliant DLNA device the DMS 3.1 can play back audio from DLNA compliant storage devices or systems that are located on the same network. The DMS 3.1 also features 3 USB ports, meaning that it is able to play back music that is stored on local devices; one of the ports is shared across all three streams, whilst the other two are zone specific. The DMS 3.1 is due to start shipping in July will prices to be announced closer to the date.
