Before 3D television can truly take off in the home surely something needs to be done about the requisite eye-wear. The additional cost of active shutter lenses further adds to the cost of a product that is still firmly in the skimming period of its pricing strategy and even though many manufacturers are offering a free pair of glasses with their 3D TVs the only customers this will be sufficient for is the terminally lonely or exceptionally misanthropic.
This is were the latest offerings from LG come in, circumventing the problem. Their new range of LED Cinema 3D televisions use passive 3D technology meaning that customers cam use cheaper versions of the necessary eye-wear whilst experiencing a cinema-like experience.
Stephen Gater, CE Marketing Director, commented: “This is a very exciting time for LG, we strongly believe in the real benefits that these new technologies will bring to consumers. With research showing that 88% of consumers prefer the viewing experience of Cinema 3D TVs, it is great to think that for the first time ever, LG is bringing the 3D experience that consumers enjoy so much in Cinemas to the comfort of home.”
With screen sizes ranging from 32- to 55-inches the Full LED NANO displays offer luscious colours as part their breathtaking ocular package and with the inclusion of all the relevant wireless trickery for accessing external media that you'd expect from one best names in the business it is clear that LG haven't let their passive obsession hinder the quality of their work. With the addition of the other modern advancement in home entertainment; Internet TV, the LW650T could well be the bridge between the exclusive 3D market and total home entertainment domination.
