Last issue we alluded to the release of an exciting new product from the Sonance brand within the Habitech portfolio. Here is what they had to say about the new product.

The iPort LaunchPort system is a revolutionary way to mount and charge your iPad 2 anywhere. LaunchPort is the world’s first inductive charging and mounting solution for iPad 2 and Habitech is expecting the ranges to sell well through its network of dealers and installers.

Jonathan Pengilley, Habitech’s managing director, said: “The PowerShuttle for iPad 2 is a sleeve-style case, which securely holds the iPad 2 and issued to magnetically mount to a BaseStation and/or WallStation. The PowerShuttle sports a built-in waveguide for the iPad 2 speaker, which allows audio from the iPad to be directed back to users.”

The PowerShuttle is also equipped with a mini-USB port for charging and syncing on the move. Because the PowerShuttle contains magnets, it can be mounted to any metallic surface, for non-charging mounting. The PowerShuttle is available in soft-touch black or gloss white.

The BaseStation is a tabletop mount that enables users to charge and you’re their iPad on any table, countertop or desk. The induction mounting and charging ring provides a connection point for a PowerShuttle, and detent features allow you to rotate your iPad 2 in portrait or landscape mode, through 360 degrees. The BaseStation is finished in brushed aluminium and black polished materials.
The WallStation provides a home for your iPad 2 on the wall. It securely mounts and charges your iPad 2 using a LaunchPort PowerShuttle. Inductive charging and magnetic mounting is utilized, providing effortless mounting and charging.

Users can rotate iPad 2 through 360 degrees while connected to your WallStation, stopping in portrait or landscape orientations. The LaunchPort WallStation transforms your wall into an information centre, gallery, video conferencing centre or touch panel.

LaunchPort safely delivers over two amps of energy over the air. The LaunchPort inductive circuit is over 85% efficient, keeping with iPort’s commitment to maintain a low energy footprint. Also, when your iPad is not presently connected to a Station, the station falls asleep and operates below 1 watt of power.

Jonathan said: “It takes about four hours to fully charge a depleted iPad from 0% to 100% – this is the same amount of time it takes to charge using an Apple iPad power supply. iPad is very smart and asks for the right amount of power at certain times, maximising its own re-charge time.”
