Curvi-HiFi's Curvi Model 1 Version 2 is described by its creator as the product of a fresh look at loudspeaker design, which aims to marry state-of-the-art sound quality with stunning aesthetics. Four years in development, the model has benefited from the combined skills of Christopher Liauw and Christien Ellis of CE Electroacoustics (www.christienellis.co.uk).

The loudspeaker's curved, absorbent free-flow transmission line provides its single EJ Jordan full-range drive unit with a near-ideal acoustic load, with low-frequencies bolstered by the port output. Its laminated plywood cabinet ensures rapid energy dissipation, thereby enabling the excellent response of the drive unit to be delivered cleanly. Great attention has also been paid to optimising the speaker's diffraction compensation circuit – a feature missing from many other models.

Whereas single drive unit speakers often suffer from poor bandwidth and high levels of colouration, Curvi models succeed in avoiding this pitfall while preserving the inherent advantages of such designs such as excellent impulse response, coherence and imaging.

The maximum dimensions of the Model 1 V2 are 1-metre (h) x 0.165-metre (w) x 0.45-metre (d), with a pair priced at £3995.
