Those looking to leverage the high-bandwidth benefits of single-strand multimode fibre networks might wish to investigate AMX’s newest addition to its Epica DGX Fibre Matrix range. Able to carry uncompressed DVI, RGBHV, HDMI, audio and unidirectional RS-232 command signals up to 1000m, the Epica DGX 16 can supply up to 16 screens with a maximum video resolution of 1920x1200 at a data rate of up to 4.95Gbps.
In line with its larger 32- and 144-zone siblings, the unit features a modular design based around a series of swappable I/O boards for on-site servicing and upgrades, plus AMX’s SmartScale technology. The latter will automatically set video resolutions and other parameters for individual displays in response to EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) signals, freeing programmers from the need to specify a one-size-fits all resolution during mixed deployments.
