Cotswolds-based manufacturer Acoustic Energy has overhauled its wallet-friendly NEO range of loudspeakers, resulting in the NEO V2. The new models feature redesigned crossovers that make use of polypropylene capacitors and re-worked cabinets with concealed magnetic grille fixings and new colour finishes. What remains is the use of neodymium drivers across the range, with the NEO V2 series’ bass drivers now able to offer half an octave in additional bandwidth compared to their predecessors, complemented by tweeters based around a dual ring-radiator design.
First up is the floorstanding NEO Three (£399/pair), a 2.5-way reflex-loaded design capable of handling 170W RMS. Joining that is the more compact NEO One (£219/pair), a two-way, reflex-loaded stand-mount offering that’s well-suited to surround duties. Filling out the front is NEO Centre speaker, the driver array of which mirrors that of NEO Three, and rounding out the range is the NEO Subwoofer, which features a 200W RMS amplifier, a frequency response of 26Hz and a notch filter to tame problematic ‘boom’ frequencies. The NEO V2 range comes finished in either ‘Vermont’ (walnut) or black and is available now from AE retailers throughout the UK.
